Medical Aesthetics Schools and Clinics Certification and Accreditation in Canada

accreditation

Accreditation

CAMACS accreditation is the process of reviewing a school's programs and policies to see if it meets criteria. When a school is found to meet the minimum criteria, it is granted accreditation. In addition, accreditation is a process of validation in which your institutions of higher learning are evaluated. The standards for accreditation are set by a peer review board whose members include faculty from various accredited colleges and universities. The board aids in the evaluation of each potential new school accreditation or the renewals of previously accredited colleges/schools. In order for potential colleges to proceed with the accreditation process smoothly, they must meet the general standards set by the peer review accreditation boards. Each college is typically assessed using the following criteria:

  • Student Requirements for Admissions

  • Services Available to Students

  • Overall Mission of the College

  • Objectives and Goals

  • Reputation of Faculty

  • Quality of EducationText

Why is accreditation important?

Accreditation is meant to protect students, schools, and employers. It ensures that a school is educating its students and meeting quality standards. When a student receives a diploma from a school accredited by the right agency, he can be assured that it will be accepted by employers. Likewise, when an employer is looking to hire, she can be assured that a graduate from an accredited school has received the training necessary and didn't pay for a degree from a diploma mill school.

Training & Certification

Legislation

Certification is an affirmation that one has completed a course of study, passed an examination, or otherwise met specified criteria for certification. However, certification is not a permission to act, but rather a statement of completion or qualification. Certification is a private matter, issued by a private organization that provides the clients with more information and confidence about the certified practitioner. It also gives practitioners a way to increase their competency through passing a course of study and exams and advertise or inform colleagues and public of their qualification of performance in the certified subject.

Reasons for certification

Certification is a method to elevate your status and legitimacy amongst peers, other medical personnel and demonstrate competency with potential and existing government regulatory agencies. For physicians, board certification may be necessary to gain or maintain privileges to perform medical aesthetic surgery at a particular firm, to demonstrate a level of competency greater than others in the field, and to demonstrate that practitioners are interested in setting and maintaining high standards of patient care. As well, for medical aestheticians certification may be necessary because clinics or physicians may require certification for employment. In addition, medical aestheticians can demonstrate a level of competency equal to or greater than others in the field through certification.

Mesotherapy is effective for breaking up the persistent fat deposits that is hard to be removed by diet and exercise. Injection of lipolysis or fat dissolving substances will also reduce and shrink the size of unpleasant lipomas. Participants will learn two techniques that are most popular: Subcutaneous microinjections and Nappage technique. Dilution, preparation, injection and storage methods of the drugs used in Mesotherapy will also be covered. Participants will receive certification upon completion of training. Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the training.

PRP to treat Hair Loss

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) combined with Medical Skin Needling is a great natural procedure that uses your body’s own plasma to stimulate the hair follicles encouraging new hair growth. This procedure is effective in the treatment of Alopecia.

How does the Procedure work?

It involves passing an electronic needle-rolling device over the affected area. The needles penetrate into the second layer of the skin, where the hair follicles are pierced creating thousands of miniature skin wounds. A vial of blood is then drawn from your body and centrifugally spun to separate the platelets. The Platelet Rich Plasma containing concentrated amounts of growth factors is then infused directly into the scalp. The skin remains intact and is not damaged therefore promoting constructive regeneration. As the skin begins its wound healing process these growth factors are present in the follicular bulge area, where stem cells are found. This activates the proliferative phase of the hair cycle, resulting in new thicker, hair growth.

Autologous Fat Transfer (Micro-Lipo-Injection)

This training and certification course covers procedures that provide the patients with facial fat sculpting, also called microlipoinjection. This method can restore attractive contours to the cheeks, chin, and under-eye area, and add volume to the lips.

Microlipoinjection, also called autologous fat transfer, is a procedure in which an individual's own body fat is used to plump up sunken or emaciated areas of the face or to add volume where desired. The word "autologous" simply refers to the use of one's own tissues or fat. Because the patient's own fat is used, autologous fat transfer training will requires three steps. The first step involves the gentle liposuction of some excess fat (such as that found in the jowls, abdomen, thighs, or buttocks). The second step involves the isolation and cleansing of the fat cells. The third and final step involves the injection of the fat cells into the targeted facial areas known as the fat cell transplantation.

Fat Injections vs. Other Dermal Fillers

The most important difference between autologous fat injection and other types of dermal fillers is that fat transfer doesn't introduce a foreign material into the body. This aspect of fat transfer is particularly beneficial for people who are allergic or sensitive to products such as collagen or Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Another factor that sets facial fat injection apart from other dermal fillers is the length of time that the volume enhancement provided by a fat transfer lasts. Generally, the effects of fat injection can last from several months to two years or more. In some cases, the effects last indefinitely.

sclerotherapy_7.jpg

Superficial Vein Removal / Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a very popular and effective way to eliminate unsightly spider veins and small varicose veins near the surface of the skin. Sclerotherapy is a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure and with the right training, nurses and doctors are capable of offering this service to their own clientele. Attendees of sclerotherapy training course will participate and perform hands-on procedures and demonstrations. The course materials you receive include written protocols, medical lists of supplies and solutions needed, along with detailed illustrations describing the techniques you learn.  All intake forms, medical questionaires, and treatment forms are supplied to allow for a seamless integration to your present services offered.

By attending the Sclerotherapy & Laser Solutions techniques you will learn to effectively integrate and safely administer sclerotherapy into your medical practice, which will benefit patients from both a medical and cosmetic perspective. Learning to perform sclerotherapy provides an effective way to help patients, while adding another significant income to your practice through these cash basis procedures. These procedures can be conducted by yourself or other trained healthcare professionals (i.e. nurse, nurse practitioner) within your office setting and allow for new aesthetic services to offer to your patients.
